There are 3 separate dinner sittings of 30 minutes. All year 7 students have their lunch at 12:30. This lunch sitting is only shared with our Post-16 students. We use a cashless payment system where parents can add money via parent pay.
SID, is the Student Information Desk, this is near the toilets and the main students entrance.
SID is a reception area specifically for students to find out vital information about the academy, hand in permission slips and find lost property.
We use our Praising Stars© system to inform you about your progress. For those new to the process, each year you will receive six such reports. This frequency of reporting enables us to improve the quality and impact of our intervention with students.
Praise is issued throughout all lessons, this is given verbally and well as 'Praise Stamps' in your planner which you can collect tickets and then go into a prize draw each week. We also have a Praise Podium where the best work is submitted and celebrated on a Tuesday each week, you may have seen this in social media!
We also use PRAISE postcards which are given out to students or sent home from your teachers' for really exceptional pieces of work.
Google Classroom is a web service developed by Google for schools that aims to simplify creating, distributing, and marking work.
In short you will receive a login so that you can view work from home!
You will have 25 lessons per week. You will study English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Spanish or French, ICT, Drama, Music, Art, Technology and PE.

It is probably much bigger than your primary school but it will very quickly feel like home. The building is square shape with classrooms on 2 different floors.

You will have an assembly once a week, in your VMG continent groups. Your VMG teacher will tell you on your first day what day your assembly will be. The assembly is held in the LRC.
There are academic or creative enrichment clubs running every day. As well as catching-up on your studies you will also get the chance to play in sports teams, build robots, play board games, discuss football, carry out science experiments, code break, sing, dance, act or paint. The number and type of enrichment's are controlled by the students - if you want to do something then we will try to make it possible.
There are 3 different options for your lunch. There is a sandwich bar, a snack bar (jacket potatoes, pasta, salad) and then a counter serving hot food. At break there are a range of snacks such as bacon sandwiches and paninis and before school, you can have a free breakfast of toast or cereal or purchase a different breakfast if you want to.
Break and lunch times are split so that the halls and corridors are not too busy at once. Your VMG teacher will explain the timings to you.
There are over 200 students in each year group from Year 7 to Year 11, with around 200 students in our sixth form.
The food and drinks for sale are all listed on menus around the lunch hall. A standard meal deal costs £2.55 per day
SLT is the Senior Leadership Team who support the Principal in leading the Academy. These will be introduced to you during your first few days in Year 7.
You will have a tour of the building on your first day and can look where your classrooms are. There are silver signs at the end of each corridor and also class room numbers above the corridor doors and on the classroom doors to help you locate your classroom, so look out for these. If you need to know where a particular room is, just ask, everyone will help.
You will be shown how to evacuate in a fire drill. All students need to make their way outside through the nearest fire exit and make your way to the sign outside on the fence that shows your classroom number. You line up quietly in front of your classroom number with your class teacher and classmates.
Yes, you will have a number of different teachers. This is because each teacher is a specialist in the subject that they teach you.
You will be given a timetable on your first day and your VMG Mentor will explain it to you. You will be told when your break and lunch times are, so you can write these down. Your timetable will show your subject, teacher and room, so has everything that you need included.
The toilet should only be accessed at break and lunch times. The First Aid room is for first aid emergencies only. Teaching staff will direct students on a discretionary basis. If you feel poorly.
